Trace Adkins and Kix Brooks to be Honorary Captains for Louisiana Tech Saturday

Oct. 15, 2010

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech has announced that country music stars Trace Adkins and Kix Brooks will be honorary captains this Saturday when the Bulldogs host Idaho at 3 p.m. in the LA Tech's annual Homecoming game. Adkins will also be singing the national anthem prior to the contest.
Adkins and Brooks are both Louisiana Tech alums and have supported their alma mater for years. Adkins has made several appearances at Tech games over the last few years while Brooks annually hosts a golf tournament fundraiser with another notable Louisiana Tech alumnus, Terry Bradshaw.
Louisiana Tech (2-4, 1-1 WAC) is in its first year under head coach Sonny Dykes and hosts Idaho (3-2, 0-0 WAC) in its fourth home game in five weeks. The game will be broadcast on CST in Louisiana, on ESPN Game Plan and on ESPN3.com with radio coverage on the LA Tech Sports Network.
A Louisiana Tech alumnus that played defensive end on the football team, Adkins has made his mark as an actor, both on television and in the movies, an author, a voiceover artist and commercial spokesman, a social commentator, and a reality show participant. His effect on businessman and showman Donald Trump was such that after his initial and highly successful appearance on Celebrity Apprentice, he was invited back as a boardroom advisor. He has turned his entertainingly articulated views into a well-received book, A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions from a Freethinking Roughneck, and has even inspired an action comic book series, Luke McBain, that has proven to be one of the genre's hottest sellers.
Brooks is known for his career with Brooks & Dunn, the duo that has headlined the country music genre and won countless awards for the last two decades. The pair won the Country Music Association Vocal Duo of the Year award every year except one from 1992 to 2006. The duo recorded ten studio albums, one Christmas album and three compilation albums for their label. They also released fifty singles, of which twenty went to Number One on the Hot Country Songs charts and nineteen more reached top ten.
